There are three groups of intrinsic hand muscles: thenar group, hypothenar group, and central compartment group. Here we see the three muscles of the thenar eminence group. They are, from superficial to deep, abductor pollicis brevis, flexor pollicis brevis, and opponens pollicis (in alphabetical order: A, F, O 😊). “Pollicis” means thumb. They all move the thumb.
